Oido is far from Seoul about 1 hour and 30 minutes. We can go there easily by subway. It is the last stop of blue line, line #4. I went Oido in 2009 winter with my best friend, Soojung. We call each other "Soul mate" because there are many similar things between us. Also I called her "Twins", I feel like her family.
It was holiday season, so it was very crowded. Many people went Oido to enjoy the winter sea. However Oido was not exactly same what I had been imagined about the seas. In my mind, seas include huge shiny sandy beach where I can walk without shoes, also clean, blue sea like emerald color. Also I can't see the horizon line and the color is definitly blue blue too much clean I even can't enter. And there must be endless sea waves, big and small, small to big. However Oido is the westem sea, so it had muddy tidal flat except the glossy sandy beach. Also there was large low tide and high tide, so I couldn't enter the sea. It was blocked with the warning signals.
Instead of entering the sea, we entered to the tidal flat. It was a little bit slippery because the snow was coverd with. In the tidal flat, we found the shells to make the letter. There were lots of shells big and small, white, polished and shattered. We wrote the new year's resolution backward of the shells. Also we wrote the goal to using the shells on the ground.
The landmark of Oido was light house. The light house is located in the middle of the Oido like welcoming us. Its color was scarlet. When I went top of the light house I felt freedom. The strong winter winds came to us but I felt lively and free then cold and bitter. There were many doddlers on the wall of the light house. We also wanted to write something like "Jeahee and Soojung came here in 2009" but we didn't have any pen.
In the winter sea, I felt like mother's voice and warm hugs. At that time, I had many troubles about my future, but when I was watching the sea I experienced they said "You can do it. Cheer up! You are not a loser.
" In the way back, I made the new year's plan. I was needed the self-confidence, and the sea gave me the present I could make it.
